Ever wondered why everyone loves to work with certain people, while some people are generally avoided at the workplace? This 2×2 matrix represents the workplace personality types at work.

Think about how your co-workers would rate you on two parameters – Competence and likability

Then classify yourself among one of the below four workplace personality types:

  1. Lovable stars
    • These people are both competent and likable
    • They are very good at work and possess high interpersonal skills
    • They are most desirable by co-workers and managers
    • This is the best category to be in
  2. Competent jerks
    • They are highly competent but difficult to deal with
    • In general, co-workers don’t like to work with them
    • But managers put up with them because of their ability to get work done
    • Improving on interpersonal skills can help them turn into lovable stars
  3. Lovable fools
    • They are not so good at work, but their co-workers enjoy working with them
    • They risk losing out sometimes, as their managers might give preference to a more competent person
