Wheel of Life – Discover how balanced is your life

Do you want to find out how balanced is your life? Wheel of Life can help you identify the areas of your life that need more attention.

What is Wheel of Life?

Wheel of life is a self-assessment tool that can help you get a quick visual representation of your current state of life and areas of improvement. This is a good tool for self-reflection and can help during goal-setting exercises.

Wheel of life
  • In this chart, there are 8 important aspects of life (Health, Wealth, Friends & Family, Business / Career, Romance, Environment, Personal Development, & Fun / Recreation)
  • Each aspect represents the spoke of the wheel
  • The score against each aspect represents the level of satisfaction a person currently has for that particular aspect of life
  • 1 represents the lowest level of satisfaction and 10 represents the highest level of satisfaction in life

For example, in this chart a score of 9 in Business / Career means, a person is highly satisfied with his current state of Business / Career. Similarly, a score of 3 in Health means, the person may be having major health issues and hence not so satisfied

The spider diagram in the chart is formed by connecting each score from the eight spokes (aspects of life) of the wheel

The shape of the spider diagram symbolizes the shape of the wheels of a car that you are driving

The more imbalanced the scores, the more imbalanced the wheel becomes, and hence the bumpier the ride of the car becomes

Make your own

Try this exercise on your own. Take a piece of paper and draw a circle and divide it into 8 segments. Write the 8 aspects of life next to each spoke and take a few minutes to score your current level of satisfaction on each of these aspects. Then mark the scores to the scale of each spoke, and join them to get the spider chart, which would represent your wheel of life. Then you can reflect on the areas that are scoring low and needs immediate attention to bring more balance and happiness into your life.
